Please Have your Child Spend 20 to 25 Minutes Reading Each Day
Our Daily 5 program gives students the opportunity to choose the order of their literacy tasks.
Each day I would like students to work on Reading and Spelling.

Reading
There are many choices students can have when it comes to what to read.
I encourage students to spend a bit of time on Epic Books.
Other options of reading include book and magazines from your personal home library, recipes, or instructions.

We received a reward for reading over 700 book on Epic! Click the Reading Bingo sheet and try to complete them all.
Exploring Countries
Every year students get the opportunity to learn about life in a different country.
Students research and record the different foods, land and animals, sports and games, holidays and celebrations, what school is like, and other Cool Facts about a country of their choice.
I have created a "Country Research Project" collection in Epic Books that are the same as the ones we usually use in class.
The recording sheets have 4 boxes per page for students to write the new word and lined boxes beside for the explanation.
For example if I was researching food in Mexico in the first box I would write Tamales and in the lined box beside I would write a mixture of meat and corn dough wrapped in corn husks that can be spicy or sweet made with pineapples.
Students in the past have shared their learning by talking in small groups, creating a poster, or a PowerPoint.
